Thomas R. Young Sr. founded the company in 1953; Thomas R. Young Jr. joined the company after service in the Korean War.
In the 1950's and 60's Young Office represented the Art Metal Company, a New York metal furniture manufacturer with a factory in Spartanburg, SC.
Young Office became a Steelcase dealer in 1972. Steelcase, Inc. is the world's largest office furniture manufacturer.
In 1974, Thomas R. Young III "Tommy" joined the company after his graduation from The Citadel.
Thomas R. Young IV, also a graduate of the Citadel in 2002, is the general manager in Greenville.
Young Office has two upstate locations with a combined 95,000 square feet. The Greenville location features a working showroom and distribution center. The Spartanburg office has an extensive mid-market showroom.
